Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30-11:30 am: AWCC Coffee Corner. Come by to purchase and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and pastries.
Friday, May 8th at 2:00: History Section-The Soap Box Derby: Past, Present and Future with Sally B. Fell. We will be meeting to hear Sally B. Fell present the history of the Soap Box Derby and how it became an international event. Please register by Tuesday, May 5th. Payment of $10.00 will cover the refreshments and setup for the speaker. $5.00 cash will be collected for the section. Please invite anyone who has participated in the derby or wants to learn more through her power point presentation. Attendees are invited to bring photographs and memorabilia. Guests are welcome.
Sunday, May 10th 11:30 am-2:30 pm: Mother’s Day Brunch. $44.95 (plus tax) per adult. Children’s pricing available. Please see menu in the Dining Section. Please reserve by May 5th.
Tuesday, May 12th at 1:30 pm: Afternoon Chapter. Afternoon Chapter meets at 1:30 to about 3:30 in the coziness of the club arty gallery. Bring your latest read to connect, reflect and unplug. Come be with book people. It’s a free and freeing time out from the noise of everyday life and an experience that always seems transformative at the end.
Friday, May 15th at 12:00: Lilac Luncheon with Discovery Shop Fashion Show. $40.00 (plus tax). Please reserve by May 10th.
Wednesday, May 20th: AWCC Beautification Project. Please contact the Club to help with this project.
Tuesday, May 26th at 2:00 pm: Book Section-Akron’s “Better Half and the Humanization of the City 1825-1925 by Kathleen Endres. While the men of Akron busied themselves laying the economic, legal and industrial foundation, their wives, sisters, mothers and daughters were equally busy weaving the benevolent and cultural fabric of the growing city. This is the story of how women brought much needed services to the community and laid the cultural foundation for Akron. Some of the current organizations (such as our own) came into being during this period. The author provides a perspective not only on the early days of the city but also on the essential contributions made by women. Please register at the front desk by Friday, May 22nd. Payment of $10.00 will cover the Club’s refreshments and set up. $5.00 cash will be collected at the meeting for the session.
Wednesday May 27th 11:30 am-2:00 pm: Spring Has Spring Luncheon. $35.00 per person (plus tax). Please reserve by May 22nd.
Thursday, May 28th at 9:30 am: Needlework Section. AWCC members, you are welcome to bring a needlework project and join us for a morning of stitching and conversation. There is a brief meeting at 10 am. At that time, we share completed and current projects. We get help from each other on issues with our needlework. Please bring projects with summer themes for the curio. Guests are always welcome.
Activities for Summer 2026
Tuesdays June 2nd, 9th, 16th,23rd, and 30th 10:00-12:00: Let’s Play Mah-Jongg. Mahjong is a skill, luck and strategy tabletop game played with tiles. We will have four weeks of lessons followed by a graduation game day June 30th. Cost for the four sessions is $25.00 and will include your game card and your membership in the National Mah-Jongg League. We will be playing American Mah-Jongg. Reservations and payment deadline is May 22nd. Guests are encouraged to attend.

Wednesday, June 17th at 10:30 am: Annual General Membership Meeting and Luncheon.
Tuesday, June 23rd at 2:00 pm: Book Section-New Hope, Nebraska, Where Fiction is Life by Karen Hasley.
Friday, June 26th at 11:30 am: Red Carnation Strawberry Luncheon.
Friday, July 10th at 4:30 pm: Independence Day Dinner with the Freedom Band.
Friday, July 31st at 5:00 pm: Garden Party Happy Hour
