Activities for October 2026
Friday, October 9th at 2:00 pm: History Section: The History of the Akron Art Museum. Alex Houser Vukoder, Chief Advancement and Communications Officer, with give us the history of the museum. There will be a charge of $11:00 for refreshments and $5.00 at the door for the speaker fund. Deadline for reservations is October 2nd.
Saturday, October 10th at 5:30: Chuckwagon Dinner. Come dressed in jeans and kick up your heels with some good food, music and fun! Cost is $43.00. The deadline for reservations is Wednesday, October 7th.
Tuesday, October 13th at 10:00 am. Mah Jongg.
Tuesday, October 13th from 1:00-3:00 pm: Afternoon Chapter. Afternoon Chapter is a quiet reading session with not assigned books, a chance to slow down and read whatever you want to read in the company of kindred spirits. We meet in the Club art gallery for two hours, bookended by a bit of chat before and after the hour we read. No cost, no reservation needed. Join us and bring that book you’ve wanted to start, continue or finish reading!

Thursday, October 22nd at 9:30 am: Needlework Section. Needlework Section would like any Club member who does any craft with a needle or wants to learn a craft with a needle to join us. Bring your project and we will try to get you started or help you continue with an existing project. We have a brief meeting at 10 am. This includes a sharing of current and completed projects. Please bring completed projects with Halloween or fall themes for the curio. Guests are always welcome. There will be no meeting in November.
Friday, October 23rd at 2:00 pm: Witches Hat Dance Practice. Come and learn the Witches Hat Dance for our luncheon on October 30th! Bring your broom ( we will have some you can borrow if yours is out of commission) and let’s have some fun!
Tuesday, October 27th at 2:00 pm: Book Section: Ohio Scoundrels: Murders, Thieves & Reprobates by Jane Ann Turzillo. In her just released book, Jane Ann Turzillo features Ohioans who are destine for notoriety, such as Akron’s Edward Wayne Edwards. From an early start snatching cash and cigarettes, Edwards graduated to murder and ended up on the F.B.I, Ten Most Wanted Fugitive List. From counterfeiters to killers, Turzillo explores the sordid lives of some of the most awful characters in Buckeye history. Reservations are requested but not required. There will be an $11.00 charge for light refreshments and $5.00 will be collected for the Author Fund.

Friday, October 30th at 11:30 am: Witches Hat Luncheon. Get out your best Halloween clothes and join us for spooky food, raffle baskets, games, and the Witches Hat Dance! Cost is $43.00. Deadline for reservations is Wednesday, October 28th.
